Tanner Bowman has always been intrigued by heavy machinery. Now, as a scraper operator – he’s working with big machines nearly every day. Although he’s been working for McAninch for less than six months, he feels right at home in his new role.
Bowman, a recent graduate of Johnston High School, learned about the company from a job fair and recognized McAninch from its work in the community.
“Everyone is helpful and friendly at McAninch,” Bowman says. “When I started, I received training, which helped me to learn to operate the equipment. My trainer rode with me at first to make sure I knew how to operate the machine properly and safely.”
When we talked to Bowman, the crew he was working with was redoing the softball fields near the Johnston Middle School.
In the winter months, when he’s not working at McAninch, Bowman plans to stay busy with snow removal and snowmobile racing.
His advice to people who are his same age – “If you’re not sure what you want to do, jump into something like this. I knew I didn’t want to go college; I thought this would be a great place to start. And, it has been.”
If you or someone you know is looking for a career with a company who is passionate about its people, puts safety first and provides professional growth opportunities in a team-oriented and highly productive culture, look to McAninch.
