Meet Ron Feldman

When we caught up with Ron Feldman, a 21-year employee of McAninch, he was working on building a road along Veteran’s Parkway.

Feldman takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. Once a project is complete, he’ll often visit the area later to see how development has prospered in the area. This is an area he can count on coming back to see.

Opening in 2019, the 11.5-mile Veterans Parkway is a major spine of a roadway system serving an entire area of West Des Moines. Once known as the Southwest Connector the name was changed to Veterans Parkway in 2013. The fully constructed roadway was designed to alleviate congestion of the I-80/I-35/I-235 interchange. The project is spurring development with several road extensions originating from Veteran’s Parkway.

When asked what he likes best about working for McAninch, he says the pay and benefits are two of his top reasons.

“McAninch also has the best equipment to run, and I like ‘playing in the dirt with big toys,’” Feldman added.

While the weather dictates time off during the winter months, he appreciates the time off. He runs a snowplow business and stays busy with hobbies, such as hunting.

“I love that it’s seasonal work, that way I can take a break do something else,” he says. “Then, I’m ready to get back to McAninch in March or April – whenever the weather is right.”

His advice to new people starting out with the company is about two things – pride and work ethic.

“McAninch is a good company that takes good care of its employees who have a strong work ethic,” Feldman says. “Earn the dollar you’re making because the company is paying a good wage and benefits.”
